A celebration of Torontonians’ unique and irreverent sense of humour, this piece commemorates a moment in Toronto history when people created an effigy for a raccoon on a downtown sidewalk. Inspired by this photo by @chiharu.toronto, this piece uses a combination of thread materials to highlight the different textures in the original photo. Wool embroidery and an embroidery stitch that replicates the look of knitting was used to give the balaclava a feeling of realism. Rayon thread gives the camera its distinct shine. It was displayed at Show Gallery 978 during an unofficial Nuit Blanche 2023 exhibit and is now available for sale.

It was displayed at Show Gallery 978 during an unofficial Nuit Blanche 2023 exhibit and is now in a private collection in Toronto.

This minimalist piece was inspired by a photograph of award-winning author Stephanie Cooke. With no painted background, this piece focuses on the colours and composition of the scene. It was displayed at Show Gallery 978 during an unofficial Nuit Blanche 2023 exhibit.

“My Salon on Richmond”
This custom piece was made for the owner of the salon My Salon on Richmond. The fine details of the embroidery on paint showcase the cotton and rayon threads in a variety of different stitches to add texture and depth. It was displayed at Show Gallery 978 during an unofficial Nuit Blanche 2023 exhibit.

“Field of F*cks”
This work uses the imagery from the Bayeux Tapestry, as well as the medieval stitch it was worked in, to portray a thoroughly modern expression. It is now in a private collection in Arizona.
