Beginner Knitting For Kids @ Studio Mooi

Introduce kids to the creative world of knitting! This 3-week course (90 minutes per class) will give kids ages 7 and up the foundational skills they need to begin creating their own knitted items! The course will cover how to cast on to begin a project, the knit and purl stitches, and how to bind off. Students will get to pick a simple beginner project that they can work on with help from an expert instructor.

  • Each week students will work towards learning basic skills, culminating in creating a small beginner project of their choice.

    What You Will Learn:

    • Slip Knot: The magic knot that starts every project.

    • Casting On: Getting the stitches on the needles.

    • The Knit Stitch: The first stitch every knitter learns.

    • The Purl Stitch: Did you know there are only 2 stitches in knitting? This is the other one.

    • Choose Your Own Adventure: Students choose from a variety of beginner projects to put their new skills to use.

    • Knitting Literacy: Knitting terms, how to read a simple pattern.

  • This course includes:

    • 1 ball of yarn

    • 1 pair of knitting needles in an appropriate size

    • stitch markers

    • a sweet treat (please inform the venue if you have any dietary restrictions).
